Parents can breathe a sigh of relief at not trying to figure out what to do with their progeny for another few months.
How was your weekend? Taken up with rushing around trying to buy supplies to get your kidlets ready for school? Watching sporting events? Heading to the beach or to the park? Long weekend next weekend. Labor Day. Don’t let the anticipation get to you.

For some strange reason, the David Bowie song Blue Jean keeps going through my head this morning. Dunno why, but maybe it’s just a denim kind of day. Soon enough, we’ll be bathing in the heat of summer.
This morning I found out that I am being let go from my day job. It didn’t pay a whole lot but it fit with my schedule as a blogger and a Mom. It also paid bills. So that kind of sucks to start my week.

In Napa yesterday, the weather was wonderful. Blue skies, puffy clouds, colder than one would want but beautiful. We meandered through tree shaded lanes to vineyards untapped by our group and touched vines that were around when the suffragettes were trying to get the vote for women. It was a day of camaraderie and laughter. Something everyone should have once in a while to remember they are alive.

In better news, they are retooling the legislation they were trying to push through to ban mobile food vendors aka food trucks from within 1500 feet of a school. It’s naive on the part of one of the people interviewed who posits that having food trucks near a school would undercut the message schools are allegedly sending on eating healthfully at school. A food truck doesn’t undercut that. Having the kids walk home past the local corner store that is stocked with sodas, snack foods, candy is a detriment. Having caregivers who don’t have time to make a healthful meal but takes them to a drive thru rather than perhaps a food truck that offers something with a veggie involved is a problem.
